Skim Spot Check #2: Discovery Park

This is a new spot that Bryce found in his quest to find good skim in Seattle. Discovery park is a short drive from UW, and is on the shoreline near Fort Lawton, google "Discovery Park, Seattle, King, Washington 98199" for directions).

This spot has tide pools and shoreline skimming. There are some gnarly barnacled rocks in some of the pools but if you ride the outside of the pool it is usually pretty hazard free. Beautiful panoramic views, but it is a bit of a hike to get out to the beach.

If your in Seattle, and need a chill spot to skim, make sure to check out Discovery Park.

Warming Up!

Tony and Isaac went out in Bellingham Bay on Friday. It was 50 degrees out with sunny skies; what better way to start warming up for the season. They were also privileged to have photographer and beloved friend, Rhys "tomahawk", come out to shoot some photos. Here's just a glimpse of some of his work and to see more check out Rhystomahawk.com

Skim Spot Check #1: Alki Beach Seattle, WA

Skimboard Spots: There is relatively little information online about flatland skimboarding locations. A lot of people are unaware of how many locations there are to skim, and how many have yet to be found! Here at DB Skimboards we check out just about every spot we can, and are finding new spots all the time. We'll be sharing some of our favorite spots with you weekly so you can check some of them out yourself.

Alki Beach, West Seattle, WA

Alki Beach is located across the West Seattle bridge along the boardwalk (click here for directions) The Skimboard spot at Alki consists of there skimmable locations: the tide line, tide pools, and small streams that run down the beach into the ocean.

The sand is very soft and forgiving, and the tide pools do not have many rocks in them and vary in size and depth. We hit this spot at a relatively high tide (+1) but still found it to have tons of great spots to throw down. If you catch Alki at negative tide there are many more tide pools and a much larger beach is exposed.

Be sure to check this one out if you are in the Seattle area, bring your skimboard, and your camera and take advantage of the great sand, and epic views of the Seattle skyline.

Board Review: PROTO Skimboard

Paul from Extreme Outdoor Supply just posted a review on our Proto skimboard on the EOS Blog. Jesse Lash (EOS team rider and NCSA President) took time to write up a comprehensive review, and created a sweet video as well. Check out what Jess thought about the Proto: http://blog.extremeoutdoorsupply.com/?p=325. Thanks again to Paul and Jesse!

Winter

Who cares what season it is, get out there and have some fun. Sure the sun is nice, but getting out there and having a quick rail sesh or popping some flatland tricks is all it takes to remind you how fun this can be no matter what the what the weather is like.

As you can see chambers has lost all its leaves and is getting ready to start turning green again once spring hits, and it'll be here in no time. Hope you guys will be ready when spring does hit because the crew here sure will be.

Chilly Sesh ( but not too bad)

The sun has been peaking through the clouds and the tide has been getting out enough to give reason to hit the beach up. Logan was lucky enough to get some skimming in this weekend so here's a couple pics that just might make you want to get some booties and throw on a sweatshirt and beanie to go skimming and have some fun.

Also, check out this interview with Logan coming from the skimboardculture.com site, as well as a lot of other cool skim information and interviews with many of the other DB team riders.
